Senior policeman killed by “terrorists” in SE Iran

TEHRAN, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) — A senior policeman was assassinated by “terrorists” on Friday in the southeastern Iranian province of Sistan and Baluchestan, the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported.
Hossein Piri, deputy public security police chief of Khash County, was killed by “terrorists” near his house at noon as Piri just ended his duty at the Friday prayers, the report said.
Further details about the incident will be announced later, according to Tasnim.
Bordering Pakistan and Afghanistan, Sistan and Baluchestan province has witnessed several terrorist attacks on both civilians and security forces over the past years. ■
